I am looking at purchasing a Yanmar 226 Diesel 4wd with about 800 hours. It has a shuttle shift and when I put it into reverse, I had to rev it to get it to move. The dealer said it needed an O- ring kit for the transmission. He is installing the kit. Is this a common problem? Does this sound like a proper fix or is there likely something else associated with the problem? The Ag tires and wheels are very narrow on this tractor. Where could I look to get turf replacements? Where can I get a service manual? Any parts dealers in western Canada?

Your dealer is probably right,if the problem is only in reverse. the transmission has clutches that are activated by hydraulic pistons. A slight defect in the o-ring can leak enough oil to make the clutch not work right. I think it is a problem that occurs rarely. If the o-ring fixes the problem I wouldn't be scared of it. I can get you a service manual & parts at sheaftractor@coiinc.com or 815-284-3226, but I'm not in Canada. ....
